This program is geared toward emergency receivers, safety and maintenance personnel at hospitals and health care facilities. Included is a review of the Incident Command System, Personal Protective Equipment, how to select the right PPE, and how to put it on and take it off properly. A review of decontamination shelters and procedures, and hands on simulation ties the day together.
This awareness course provides an overview of activities involved with mold remediation. Participants will gain an understanding of mold ecology, health effects and how to conduct an initial inspection. Participants will learn about conducting a visual inspection and how to use non-invasive tools such as infrared cameras and moisture meters.
Students Will Learn:
- Sampling techniques available to find hidden mold and the limitations of these techniques.
- How to identify the most common fungi related to water damage.
- Methods to prevent water events and mold growth in buildings.
This course offers Continuing Education Units.
Mold remediation courses provide an overview of activities involved with mold remediation and are designed to train individuals who are or who anticipate being employed at a mold remediation work site. Activities in this course could include sampling techniques available to find hidden mold and the limitations of these techniques, how to identify the most common fungi related to water damage and health hazards, methods to prevent water events and mold growth in buildings, emergency response plans, protective equipment, and control containment or confinement.

This course is designed to meet the OSHA requirement for annual refresher training for individuals who have previously completed the 24- or 40-hour Safety and Health Training.
Topics include: incident review, hazard recognition/evaluation/control review, health and safety program requirements and regulations, monitoring equipment, respiratory protection, safe work practices, and personal protective equipment.
This course offers 7 Continuing Education Hours.
This is an in person course.
COST: $460 for 40-hour completion. This is a separate course fee from the 24-hour training and includes all materials and equipment.
The total combined cost for the initial 24-hour and the 40-hour completion is $870.
This 16 hour in-person course of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on experience builds upon the 24 hour course (a prerequisite for participating in this completion course). The Technician Level course is designed to provide training required by OSHA 1910.120 to respond to releases with the purpose of stopping the release.
Topics include: implementation of emergency response plans, classification and identification of unknowns, field survey instruments, response tactics, hazardous materials technology, decontamination of personnel and equipment.
This course offers 16 Continuing Education Hours. 40 total hours when both the required courses are completed. The 24-hour course is a pre-requisite.
NOTE: All participants in the 40-hour course are required to have a physician complete a medical evaluation and clearance form prior to the course.
